I thought I heard some swearing LOL , brother I feel your pain, when it clicks into place it goes so easy. Why don't you take it out again just for practice? J/K
Yep, saw them ...guess its one of those tools you don't think you need until you do ...
I got lucky, only one Sth Florida dealer had it (Petersons) and they only had one!!
Can't you leave in any position prior to removal? I usually just use "Off" (straight up). If you use "Acc" won't that drain the battery to some extent while you're working?
Where've you been hiding in the past year? Are you still working in Idaho? Anyway, welcome back.
You can it's just easier to get to the release button in ACC then turn the switch back to OFF before you lift it out.
Still in Idaho, had a moderator tell me my help and expertise was not needed or wanted, so I left. But I got bored the other day after building a bunch of parts and logged on. I see not much has changed other than new names asking old questions.
Good job. I am now going through the same thing. I went and blew $100 bucks on an alignment tool that my buddy said I had to have. Said if I didn't use it I risked the switch being off 180 degrees and the pin dropping at anytime while riding. All bull s**t. I have had it out many times before and always aligned it with the switch. Never had a problem but after this last wreck I was caught up by the horror story. Of course it had nothing to do whith the work glove that fell out after the wreck. Turns out when I was doing some work on the audio with the front fairing off another "buddy" of mine lost his work glove during the reassembly and failed to mention it to me.
Oh well, 10 days in ICU, 4 more weeks of bedrest, $5800.00 in parts, and two months of missed riding, Henrietta (2008 Electra Glide Ultra 105th Anniversary) is almost back together and ready to ride.
So, as always, I guess I really learned a lesson about all of this the hard way and have now anointed myself an expert in the matter. Glad you got yours all back together!
BTW....Is anyone interested in a good deal on a brand new ignition switch alignment tool??
