[QUOTE=CWO USN;9879288]ABS. It's there when you need it.[/

Bingo saved my *** last week. You don't know jack if you thinkyourbetteroff with out it
I know this is an older thread but I ride an 02 Electra Glide Standard and Sunday I took my son for a ride. We encountered one of those oh **** situations when someone turned right in front of me while I was riding. We were travelling about 35 mph and I was less than 30 feet from him when he turned. I applied both brakes hard but let up on the front to steer. Bike came left from the back and we skidded about 25 feet. I was able to regain control and pop around him. We were very lucky. I am now considering a bike with ABS. That's twice this has happened to me with my son on the bike. Might be time to upgrade.
I'm not convinced by ABS, especially on a bike. I've ridden with it for 50k miles and despite braking hard on several occasions it hasn't activated, so I haven't had any benefit from it. I suppose if you live life on the ragged edge it may help, but to put blind faith in it is very unwise!
I don't think blind faith has anything to do with it. If the technology is there, and available it should be had. You may never have to use it, but it is piece of mind. It is also sad to see people disconnecting it. It is a life saver.

You Really Should Go Out And Find A Safe Place LIke A Empty Parking Lot To lock It Down To Get The Feel For It.
I have a 12 EGC without abs and I'm considering trading it in on a 13 Ultra Classic with it. ABS is the main motivation. 13s are on closeout right now and I think I could get a pretty good price. Think it may be a good idea?
Its nice knowing that ABS is there to back you up if you get on the brakes too hard or the road is slippery. Allows me to use my breaks right up to the 99% level in confidence.
So yeah, I wont own a bike again without ABS.
