ok, I tried a redo a few times and no matter what...the clip results in the upper oring getting unequal presure and as a result, some droplets per mile. The pisser is the spring is so strong that compressing the things always results in the uppers landing in mis alignment. So, I cut 1/2 of 1 turn off each spring and retired it. world of difference with install being relatively practical and being able to verify the orings were seated and the uppers getting even pressure. drove around for a few miles and no droplets at all. So this is a done deal.

ok, I tired a redo a few times and the stiff spring prevents even seating of the upper tube end. decided to cut 1/2 of a turn off each spring at the bottom. install was doable with oring and top end tube seating verification being pretty easy. took the bike out for a few miles and no droplets of oil. so this is a done deal.

yep...that worked...after I cut 1/2 of a turn off each spring at the bottom. with out cutting the spring...no way ....the tube would misalign and the oring would unseat. Took the bike out for a few miles and the droplets stopped. so done deal. easier than cutting the clip down.

So when you cant get something to work on a design that has been around for SEVENTY SIX years, you dont stop to think that maybe YOU are doing something wrong before cutting the springs?

Did ya happen to check to make sure the old o-rings are out of the heads?

Dude, you are always having hell everytime you even look at your bike! Maybe you just need to hire someone who is more inclined to take care of it for you.

Your posts always make me laugh my *** off.

works for you. I'd do it. I could not get the damn axel out of the toilet paper roll holder and had to shorten the spring. they been around for 76 years too.
