Default MasterTune by Kuryakyn

All,

Does anyone have expierence with the MasterTune kit by or sold by Kuryakyn?

I just bought a '12 UCEG limited. I want to upgrade the intake and exhaust...need a good fuel pack.

Thanks,

PC-V will be a better option.. Screaming Eagle tuners are is another however, Screaming Eagle tends to stay on the safe side of EPA rules so your bike will not performed to 100 percent. Many options out there, I am leaning towards your same route however I ordered Vance & Hines Pro Pipe, Intake and PC-V, next I will be going with Bod woods cams TW777, port heads etc. I have a 11 SG myself...

Also, the stock shocks need to be replaced to a real aid ride adjustable suspension to improve ride quality and rebound effect, also better when you ride 2 up. Just my opinion though!

Yeah I agree on the socks! What would you suggest?

Thanks for the input on the PC-V. I'll check into that.

I'm running their setup on my UC. Very satisfied with it and it makes a huge differance. All they do is sell the kit which is made by Mastertune. They have some calibrations on their website and Mastertune has tons of calibratrations on their site. I like TTS because you reprogram the ECM on the bike instead of adding another box to the system. Also you dont need to dyno the bike. You can tune the bike to anything you want. Do some research on TTS before you make decision.

I have several years experience with the TTS - I would not go with another system. But I did not purchase mine from Kury - where ever you go, be sure to get the correct cables if you don't have them already.

As suggested above, it changes certain data within the ECM instead of being a downstream add-on box.

You can tune it to the max or as conservatively as you want. It can be added to a completely stock setup and then settings changed as your mods change. And you don't have to chase down someone on the 'net to get a map. If done correctly, the TTS system generates a map custom-tuned to YOUR bike...not another on the other side of the country.

It will also allow you to save your original HD map just in case you need it in the future.

FWIW, I would stay away from the V&H pipes...many of them have known issues with O2 sensor placement/depth. This can cause real problems during any tuning runs.

Good luck!

I had TTS on my '09 RK. i had it dynoed to 86 hp & 92 tq. i had kury duals and kury slipons and kury cam. if ya computer savy you will be fine. does not need to be dynoed. if you do go with the TTS, MAKE SURE you wait for engine light to go off each time before you start AND if you use engine shut off switch, after motor is off, switch back on and then key off. this allows settings to be stored in your ecm for restart. this was said to me by kury....

on my '12 FLHX i am doing the SE super tuner.

For the only reason being, i am doing engine upgrades and wanted to stay HD all the way. JMHO

Pine Tree,

Will any of this void my warranty? Thanks for your input, I'm not a fan of V&H. I was looking at the kury crusher ovals though.

Does not harm y6our warrenty because when you take it in for any kind of ecm related work you put the stock map back into the ECM. The crushers are fine mufflers but a little loud, They are made by V&H.

What are the differences between the Power Commander and TTS.

Power Commander is a piggy back device. It intercepts the ECM outputs and modifies them to send them to the injectors and coils to provide the proper fuel and spark timing.

Pros: It can be used on multiple bikes. So if you change bikes later, you may be able to use the same power commander. It can be resold and used on any similar bike.
Cons: It's a piggy back device. It needs to do multiple calculations upon receiving the information and transmitting it down the line. It may only take a fraction of a second, but there is a delay. If the PC takes a dump, then you risk riding a bike with bad timing or fuel delivery and can harm the motor.

The ECM Re-Programmers: SEPST and Master Tune is an interface device. It allows you to re-program the ECM with things like Startup enrichment, acceleration enrichment, deceleration enleanment, as well as idle and redline control.

The Master Tune makes available a lot more tables that you may or may not want to interface with, depending on how deep you want to go into tuning. Master Tune allows you to change wheel and tire sizes and calibrate your speedo accordingly, by changing the Speed Sensor calibration. The Master Tune also has the abilty to make a custom MAP based only on the existing O2 sensors that come on 2006 and later V-Twin models.

Pros: It's not a piggy back device. It has ZERO delay. It minimizes the connectors, so it's water intrusion is the same as a stock bike. You maintain the use of your closed loop EFI system to optimize your fuel mileage. (on bikes with 02 sensors) and you maintain use of the ion anti-knock sensors. (a huge bonus for those who tour extensively and are forced to use "Less than premium gas" on occasion.)
Cons: It mates to your ECM so you can only use it on one of your bikes. (The Master Tune can be used on 2 bikes, but it mates to them and can not be used on any other bikes.)

If you have the HD warranty, you'll have to ask them.

Regardless of what you read on this or any other forum, claims for any warranty work is authorized only by those honoring the warranty.

So unless there's a member here (or elsewhere) that's going to cover the cost of any warranty-related repair, the only one that can truly answer your question is HD.

Probably not what you wanted to hear but that's just the reality of the beast.
