Default Rear Axle Nut Torque tool

In my Harley manual there is a tool Harley sells that is used to ease adjusting the belt by enabling you to get easier access to the cone nut and belt adjustment cam nut. The manual shows it used with a torque wrench at a 90 dgree angle. It would be great to have and save pulling mufflers etc. So I went to the dealer and they said its only available to dealers? What a crock of crap that is. Its in the manual, the manual says to purchase from the dealer and the dealer says no can do. Propriatary HD only.

So my question is if anybody knows a way around this so that I can get 2 of these wrench adapters. One to hold the adjustment and one to torque. The dealer showed me one from Drag that is 79.00 while the HD one is 50.00. It doesn't look like it would work nearly as well as the HD one either, if at all. Thanks for any advice on this.

Get the part number and order on line or over the phone from a different dealer.

Personally I would never spend my money on that wrench but that aside, I'd try another dealer. I never heard of a "proprietary" wrench. If it was proprietary why would they have a picture of it in the manual? Proprietary restrictions are usually associated with information, not a physical entity such as a simple tool.

It's listed in the accessories catalog and I bought one at the HD dealer in Montgomery AL. Haven't used it yet though. There are 2 axel nut wrenches listed for different year bikes, Mine has the 36mm and 15/16th on the other end. Doesn't have the 3/8 or 1/2" square hole for the torque wrench but there are holes on either end that a bolt could be put and used for the torque wrench at 90 degrees.

Several places that make and/or sell them. Some cost less than others (I think mine was about $10. Check your favorite aftermarket distributors.
BTW: You only need one. A box end wrench or crescent wrench works fine on the other side, since you won't use the torque wrench there.

Here is one I found on amazon.

I bought a pair of flat wrenches on ebay, that is a little better I feel, because you could use them on the road in a pinch to adjust your belt.

Ahhh, found one on Georges Garage web site. Don't know if its the same one? I don't think that the exact part # could be copied and it also cheaper.

What is the part number listed in the accessories catalog? The one listed that I'm looking for is Axle Nut Torque Adapter Part # HD-47925.

Two dealers now say it is Propritary Harley Tech/Dealers only. I'll pay anyone a commission that can get me this part Number...with lips sealed since it propritary...

I got a cheap pair off eBay, I think $20 for the pair with shipping. They are longer than the Harley set, but the square for the torque wrench is close enough. Used at a right angle the distance doesn't matter. Used them last weekend to adjust tension and they worked great.
