Glad your girlfriend and you are doing good.

As for the gun, being a retired L.E.O. (30 years of police work) I have never left home without one. I’ll be carrying while on my upcoming 4,000 mile + trip. Why? Because I can, I live in the U.S.A..

About the gun. Yeah, I know it's a right, it's legal, etc. I'm not anti-gun, by any means. I certainly understand and support LEOs wearing a sidearm at all times. I just don't feel the need to carry one myself, although I have weighed the risk vs reward, many times. You want to carry? Go ahead, it's your choice. I hope carrying a weapon doesn't make you tougher than you need to be, when maybe you should just avoid a "situation."

How much damage on the bike? I'm thinking of getting the sattlebag guards or my UL, for cases like that
I too was 'thinking' of getting the saddlebag guards for mine....I finally got them AFTER I dropped it....D'oh!

Well, put about 150 miles on this Sunday. Very tentative especially turning right. Lost some confidence in my bikes ability to hold the road during a tight right turn. As a result I'm almost too careful (slowing way more than I should and taking the turn wider) taking a right turn. I'm gonna have a buddy of mine (motor officer) put my bike through it's paces as I watch hopefully restoring my faith in my bike. I've seen him do things with an FLHTP that look impossible. If he can lean and turn a tight right I'll know it's just me and not the bike. Confidence in myself I think I can regain. Do I sound nuts or normal?
