Default Odometer Readings

When I scroll through the different readings on my 2012 Street Gide odometer there is: Total Miles, Trip A and B and r. What is the "r" reading?

Fuel range function. Its a calculated remaining distance till empty based on fuel in tank. Basicly you need to fill up. On some bikes it's accurate and others its not.

Yep, "R" is how many miles (approximately) til you'll be walking. Mine is pretty close.

Welcome top the forum.

And strangely enough this information is in the owners manual.

Sit down and read it some evening you will find all sorts of interesting information.
Like how to disable security if your fob doesn't work and how to change the code for the security system from what the dealer set it to. (if you have security of course)

Welcome to the forum, mgdots. You'll find we're usually the helpful sort... especially if you ask us which type of oil we think is best or what tires we are running with. Now, if you start asking questions that are easily located in your owners manual or that are easily located using the search function on this forum, the folks here may tend to give you a hard time. Don't take it personally... it's just a learning curve. I've done it once or twice myself. Some people learn quicker than others.

Also, pictures are always a plus. Not that we need to see the "r", but maybe a pix of your bike in the avatar or signature block.

Mine is not. I still use the trip odometer to calculate miles left in the tank.

Yup! Distance to empty. Mine is actually quite accurate. Don't ask me how I know. Not a good practise run fuel injected engines out of gas. Read the manual and find out what happens to your display when the the little yellow light shaped like a gas pump comes on.
