I ride my Fat Boy in lots of rain which shuts the horn down to a little sqwack.
On the back of the horn is a screw covered with a black sealant; if you peal the sealant away, hook up the horn and turn the screw a little one way or the orther it will blast again.
Of course after all the water is out and it is dried!
I was riding in a rain so hard, I didn't see standing water in front of me. I suddenly had this rush of water from the bottom up, like sitting on one killer bidet. About a week later, I needed to use my horn and it kind of sounded "Pffffft"
Ever the stupid one, I thought the horn was toast and bought a replacement. As I want to change out the horn and took the old one off about three weeks later, a lot of water poured out on the ground. I shook it all out, put the old horn back on, and returned the new one. Lesson learned.
I got rid of my stock horn and put on a mini-beast.. well worth it.. 130 decibels! Sounds like a big rig ... scares the heck out of those cagers lost in their cell phone conversation drifting into my lane.
I used to spray mine with silicone lube, it made it work fine. One day I was in Advanced auto, remembered a thread in on here, and purchased a new horn. Now, rain no rain, wash the bike, water does not bother the new horn. 3 years later, it was worth the 20 dollars I spent.
I drive in city traffic, I need the horn to worn, when I push the button.
