Many years ago right after they opened Hwy 22 in the Myrtle Beach, SC area, I talked to a SC State Trooper who told me they had stopped a guy on a Hyabusa that he clocked at 190 MPH. He called ahead and they set up a road block.
I have a helmet sticker that says, "Wide open until you see God, then brake". However, 190 MPH is a little rich for my blood.
too fast? I touched 100mph on my 06 RKC once on the same straight stretch I have pushed past 160mph in my 2003 Mustang Cobra Ragtop that I have bumped up to 550HP. 100mph on my RK was too fast for me at the time, but for some reason 80 to 90 is comfortable.....go figure....
There's fast - and there's sto0pid fast. Sto0pid fast is when your luck and your skill run out. Had my WG up to 110mph a couple of times - the bugs REALLY hurt at that speed w/o a windshield!
On the other hand, just plain stupid is 2 squids slowing traffic down to 30mph on a freeway so one egg head can pull wheelies while the other keeps traffic at bay.
So, like at 160+ do bugs go right through you? I've been to 120++ on several big bikes, never went all out on a sport bike, but those speeds are scary, to me at least. Things are happening way too fast, I can't imagine like 160-170, especially in an environment like where a cat could come out of a ditch ..... of course, it would be a quick splat ...
I hit a cat once, but that was at 55, can't imagine rolling over one at 155!
also hit a turkey once with the fairing going 45, if that happened at 155 it would probably take your head off.
i want to see someone hit the limiter on a dodge tomahawk. right now they claim a theoretical speed of over 400 mph...just cant get someone to stick to it to find out...now thats funny.
google dodge tomahawk its a motocycle with a V10 dodge viper engine.
that strap is for the protection of others when that thing gets away, ain't going to help him at all. I'm 56 years old and ain't grown all the way up yet, but i've had my street glide wrapped past the 120 mark twice, both times on a relatively safe, long stretch of open road, but for me, it's too damn fast. I'll cruise 80-85 all day on the open toll roads and i love going 0-that 85 as fast as possible, but that is where i get my rush, not in the top end. I can see the thrill of speed, but that's not my thrill, i get my thrill from acceleration.
