Guys, I cant find the post where someone pointed to a power cord that goes direct from the battery to a mini USB end (preferably 90 degree angle on the min-usb)
Found mine on ebay. Just entered Nuvi 550 motorcycle. There were lots of options. Had it on my '07, and now my current 2010. No problems at all in over 4 years.
- I'm on a Road King Classic, where do you put/hide that big box?
- Do you just attach the bare wire ends to your battery terminals?
I helped a friend install one on his King. We put it inside the headlite nacelle. and bought the wire up to the mount on the handle bars. If you look in side the headlite you will find a wire plug that is powered with the key. We cut the plug off and soldered the wires/heatshrinked them.
I use a cord with standard USB on one end, micro USB on the other end, plugged into a dual USB cig plug adapter that pushes in just about flush in the cig plug.
On my Road King, I use the cig plug with 6' cord to deltran into the batt. tender pigtail routed with small ties for easy on and off.
I have seen the angle plug you are talking about at Radio Shack; The cord I use is one off an old Blackberry, works fine.
The adapter and deltran cord came from Amazon.

What do you do when it rains? isnt the cig plug with the usb adapter exposed? thats why I wanted a direct wire solution, but that big honkin box has got me stumped.
My cables bend back down from it, I slip a small black container over it that 35mm film used to come in, but you could use any find of plastic or cover.
When not in use, the gig plug has a weather cap that covers it.
Remember, the USB adapter I have pushes in almost flush...
I just bought a TAPP USB power port, but it's not on the bike yet. It has a cover to protect it from the rain. Also got USB mini and micro cables, one for the GPS and the other for the phone.
