Default Ethanol Sucks...Recommendations?

Hey all,

I wish I could buy pure gasoline, but living in California, that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I just read a news story of E-15 being available starting this summer...not good for motorcycles. Ethanol attracts water and, well, promotes bad performance in the engine. Here's one story:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/05/16...-gas-stations/

So, question:

Does anyone use additives now to combat ethanol and bad fuel? What works well? What kind of conditioners for the fuel work well?

I want to start adding every other tank or so...or is that too much?

Thanks for the info!

go to pure-gas.org. It is a nationwide listing of all stations in the US that sell ethanol free gas. it is sortable by state

In the midwest we are using StarTron to battle the ethanol issues. No matter what station we buy at if it has a single nozzle for three grades we get a dose of the cheapo gas right off the pump, what little alcohol is there can be brutal as to sucking up moisture and separating out if you don't ride for awhile, StarTron helps to keep it in solution with the gas.

the key seems to be not allowing the fuel to sit.

time to start garaging with low tanks instead of full tanks ( which we have always done to prevent rust through.)_

+1 on Star-Tron, works great. I use it in all my power equipment as well.

Wow... Only five stations listed in the ENTIRE Peoples Republic of California. I'm sure we won't be seeing any savings from the added ethanol either despite the damage it is reported to cause... (sigh)

I use the Sta-Bil marine formula, so far so good. (lucky enough to use mostly real gas most of the time also)
