It's pretty strait forward.

- Remove the oil filter then the threaded hex nipple it screws on to, I think it's a 15/16" socket needed.

- In it's place, they supply a a plate and longer threaded nipple, you will need a 7/16" allen wrench to install.

- Remove the two screws that hold the regulator, and sandwich their support bracket in there.

- Install oil filter

I've used blue locktite for every screw.
Make sure it's tight, especially the hose clamps, or you'll get leaks.

and for the big allen wrench, use a 1/4 bolt ( 7/16" head), stack a couple of nuts on the bolt, jam them tight aligning the flats with the head

use this as your 7/16" socket, you can put the head of the "bolt" into the nipple and turn the socket with a ratchet.

I installed mine 5½ years ago and just helped a friend with a '10 SG install his the other day. The 7/16" Allen fitting is a headache, as almost nobody has one in their tool kit, so plan ahead on this before starting. The bolt/nut trick works fine.

The instructions aren't clear about how to position the gasket and adapter, and looking at the two parts isn't self-explanatory. Making matters worse the instructions show it being positioned one way in one diagram and different in another with little or no help in the step-by-step instructions. It appears that the gasket and adapter fit only one way, so go by that gauge. The nipple section of the adapter is positioned at about 12 o'clock on the filter housing for newer models, but more like 10 o'clock on my '07. Once you get that puzzle figured out you can do the job in no time.

Don't bother removing the VR wires at the engine casing as dictated in the instructions, as that isn't necessary. I suspect they only tell you that as a precaution to prevent damaging them as you move the VR around, as it does have to be pulled away from the mounting studs to install the cooler bracket.

Thanks guys. Sounds like a pretty simple install. Great tip with the bolt.
