Did a chrome front end this weekend all went well till it was time to reinstall ignition switch ****.Looks like i lost the alignment of detent and switch position lugs anyone have any tips on realigning with out the switch aligment tool?
Been there, done that. I took a long screwdriver and flashlight and got them lined up pretty easily. Odds are you turned the top without turing the bottom, so what I did was turned the top one backwards until I could see it was lined back up with the bottom and it worked fine. When you get the slots lined up you'll be able to see through the top one and into the slot in the bottom. I know it sounds confusing but looking down into the switch with a flashlight it'll make more sence.
I believe you're off by 1-2 positions on the switch...remove & start w/locking to align. Turn bars like Left-turn & align w/screwdriver until it locks. Then turn 1-click to Right & drop switch in place...hope this helps...good luck!
Just got back from a little test ride.My hats off to you guys..... im's youtube to show his home made tool and Iceman24 it was just 1 click away......
You are welcome,
Glad things worked out well for you.
BUT the video was not me..came across it a while back when someone was kind enough to share their knowledge for everyone's benefit...when i find stuff like that i try to save the link..
