2012 Ultra Primary Fill
QUESTION???
How much are you guy's putting back in your primary when you change it?
Owners manual says 38oz. But when I drained it, got 45oz out of it. Harley shop did 1000 mile service earlier. Changed to (Redline Primary oil) in hopes of quieting chain noise done. It made a difference. Tried the MOBIL 1, but way worse than Harley Lube.

the primary is checked/filled to the level as described in the manual.
this is not crucial- BUT too much lube causes drag on the parts, not enough can wear the clutch.
when I do my primary I work the clutch to get what i can out of the mechanism, and sometimes let drain overnight with a zip tie on the lever.
then I fill it so that the level is just over the clutch with bike on the jiffy.
the HD primary lube works great.
******** more lube in the primary than you remember putting in can be a sign of a bad seal in the motor and oil being forced into the primary.
This was also a problem 20 years ago in evos with porous cases, the oil was seeping through the case into the primary
