hehehe, well, I respect your right to your opinion, but I do disagree with it. True flamers are usually banned from forums and... I'm still here. Take a look at my posting history, my Friend. You might be surprised.

I mean really, do you think that most everyone here isn't aware that there are service manuals and that they can do work themselves to save money? The way I see it, it was OP who was basically flaming everyone who chooses to pay someone to work on their bike. Judging from some of the other replies here, I'm obviously not alone in my way of thinking.

Perhaps if OP would have titled the thread differently, we wouldn't be having this conversation. However, to start off by saying "what's your problem", is pretty offensive. Don't you think?

Just because I can doesn't meen I want to! I derive an immense amount of enjoyment by tackling most of the mods on my bike. It may lead to an occaisional moment of frustration, but all in all an eventual feeling of accomplishment. While paying someone to do this work might seem like a waste of money to you, I prefer to think of it as a freeing up of my time, A VERY VALUABLE COMMODITY!

I am fortunate enough to be able to balance my needs with my wants with my abilities and my time.

Well I did just pick up a EG and plan on doing some of the regular maintenance myself. Got a service manual ordered but I'd still like to know if there is a good trustworthy wrench somewhere between Fort Worth and Wichita Falls that I could go to in case something more serious comes up. Right now all I know to do is seek out a dealer. That doesn't give the best warm fuzzy if you know what I mean.

Let's all just step back, take a deep breath and reflect on how much we love each other.

Re-read SmokinDave's post. It was well written and in no way flamed or insulted anyone.

Every post you made today you flamed someone. There is a pattern. Go get help.

Exactly. It can get expensive though. Oh wait, are we talking about motorcycle service?

+1 on buying a service manual. There's a lot of stuff I can work on my bike and some that I would rather have a professional do. I will say that when you do the work yourself, you not only get a sense of accomplishment, but for me, I appreciate my bike even more.

I really don't care what anyone thinks of my skills as a mechanic which are limited at best. I am more than capable of changing oil if I want to. I am also capable to pay someone to do it if that is what I want to do. I see it as no ones business either way. If I want to do/try to do work on my bike I will. If not I pay for it...it is my money.
I do not see why anyone would try to tell someone else what to do or not to do with their money and time. Every time I go to the dealer there's a line and two weeks to get anything done, so there are alot of people that are not doing their own service. At my Indy I am treated well and prices are good and I am supporting a crew of 5 good men. That said, I do have a parts and service manual with my oily finger prints all over the pages.
