I have an '09 FLHTC, and I am getting ready to change the compensator, and I am interested in the Hayden M6 tensioner as a replacement to the HD auto-tensioner for the primary chain.
The M6 doesn't "latch" into place like the stock one, and appears to allow flex in both directions, instead of just tightening.
I have found numerous positive (and a few negative, of course) reviews of the old-style M6's that replace the manual tensioner, so I am not looking for reviews on those.. but none for the new model that replaces the '07-up auto tensioner... Anyone tried one ? How is it holding up?
If I knew what I know now I would of had it installed with the SE compensator and HD clutch spring. I really don't like the harley system and have used the hayden with great success in the past.
My auto leaves enough slack in the chain and has served me well but I have been looking at the 07+ M6 and the Baker auto. Both seem to do the same thing. Ill give it a year or two to get some real world input. Subscribed.
Just got mine in from Phat Performance. Looks to be a good unit. The springs seem to be plenty strong enough to keep good tension on the chain. I guess that the real test is once I get it installed and running later on this week. I've only read one review where the poster said he had chain slap. All other reviews that I could find we're positive. Keeping my fingers crossed.
