Good way to check squish?
I used to check squish in two-stroke applications with a piece of solder through the plug hole. I think this would work on a v-twin four stroke but want ideas and thoughts.

I've done it that way too and its quick and easier than clay. Is the engine already assembled? Are you trying to figure piston to head clearance or valve clearance? hydraulic lifters make it hard to check actual valve clearance though. If you had an old lifter you could make solid and adjustable pushrods you could take it to tdc and carefully adjust it until it touches while counting the turns then refigure the length change by the rocker arm ratio.
