I like a nice mellow 2 lane, granted it has more hazards on it than the freeway. I do like a freeway if I'm in a hurry, just have to watch out of the 18 wheelers that don't see you passing and decide they want the left lane also.

Rodman 813, I was stationed at Andrews AFB for 4 yrs and drove to the Pentagon every day so I know what the DC traffic is like. Now living in the country inupstate NY, I prefer back country roads to the NYS thruway. I can ride at my own pace and enjoy the scenery. Too many people in a hurry on the thruway. Most are late for something so they drive 20 + mph over the limit, change lanes without ever looking or signaling and are yacking on the cell phone. They run bumper to bumper like a nascar race. When there is an accident which is almost every day, traffic is backed up for miles and may take an hour or more to clear which makes the people who are already late drive even faster and more dangerously. The country has its share of hazards I agree but given the choice I ride the country back roads..........................BG

On the weekends, it's the backroads for me. But during the week, my daily commute is mostly interstate. One advantage to the interstate during rush hour traffic is that it's a few degrees warmer during the winter, so it takes less time to thaw out when I finally get to the office!

I definately prefer backroads riding, however I don't mind to jump on the slab if I need to get somewhere.

If I am(was) riding to work it was normally the highway Indy to Anderson, at 530 in the morning it isnt that bad. The ride home however normally takes a whole lot longer via the backroads. The 50 mile one way commute has turned into 200+ miles going home before, but thats what it is all about isnt it?

When I'm commuting on the bike, it's the interstate. When I wanta nice scenic fun ride, it's the backroads. Both have their pros and cons.

Back roads usually cost me (at least)an additional 30-50 mins to a trip. If I have 100-300 hundred miles to travel, the interstate is my only option. I like to get it over with. A riding buddy of mine never rides with me on long trips becasue he hates the busy interstates.

What's your opinions???????
When i am riding I am never in a hurry or set a time limit when i get there i get there. 99.99% of my riding is a two lane road. I enjoy taking in the sights of the 2 lane road.

My preferance is PAVED roads! Other than that it all depends on the time I have to get there. Plenty of time = back roads, short on time = Interstates and nail it!

Ride Safe,

Mike

I prefer the backroads for "riding" But I also enjoy the slab to get to where I'm going, which sometimes is to the back roads I want to ride that day. A lot of good riding is a ways a way, so the slab serves it purpose
