Default What is this?

Just bought a beautiful 99 EG Standard a month ago, while I was laying on my garage floor working on it I see this cable hanging down between the rear tire and oil pan, I pull the seat off, pull it up and it goes under the gas tank piece towards the front of the bike, there is anonther one under the left cover that goes into a harness with other wires, I am new to big twins and am wondering what they are for?

I don't have an EG to go look but it appears to be an antenna hook up. Radio or CB not working? If you don't have CB maybe all EG's came with same wiring?

No doubt antenna cable. Previous owner probably swapped the antenna and put one inside the faring. Bet if you check, you will find an antenna mounted inside the fairing.

That is strange because there is no stereo on the bike, I believe it had a pack on the back, the license plate holder has holes in it to mount something on. There are 2 of those cables on this bike, one going forward and the other in a harness with other wires as shown in the pics.

Not sure for 99, but I did a bunch of work on my buddys 2009, standard, and alltho no radio, all the wiring and stuff was there. I think they all come wired, and if its a standard, they just dont add tunes....

The one under the side cover looks like it is original with the bike, the one going forward looks like it was added and newer. Just wanted to make sure it was not something that came disconnected, we are going on our first road trip on the bike and I was checking everything and changing all the fluids when I saw it, glad I checked because it was hanging in front of the back tire, would not have been good if it got tangled in the tire or belt.
