Default Radio antenna question

Few months back I replaced the "whip" with the HD hidden antenna(mounts under fairing). I was not pleased with this reception so today while I had the fairing off replacing a clutch cable I added an antenna splitter at the radio back. I plugged in the old antenna wire and the hidden antenna wire into the splitter. Will this help hurt or hinder the reception? I need one of you electronic guys on here to answer. I know the hidden antenna is equivalent to the length of the whip. I did not put an external antenna I am just using the existing wire for a little extra umph. Any input? Am i just showing my electronic ignorance?

Cable is shielded, without antenna it does nothing. As far as the hidden, it also hid my reception...worked to well...lol

I had this same prob. Bad rec using hidden ant. Bought a complete 10 inch whip and zip tied it inside the fairing. Just underneath the windshield screws running left and right. Out of sight and perfect reception. Doesnt rattle either.

Did you just plug this in to the back of the head unit and just return the HD hidden antenna or just this in conjunction with the hidden antenna?

Anyone remember the vendor of the whip antenna that has shown it works?
