I am looking for a formula or theory to buy my next set of bars. I currently have HD 56079-93t, they have 10.25 rise and 6.5 pull back. I need about 2.5 inches of rise and 3 more inches of pull back. I can't find the perfect bars but some that are close. If I bought a bar that had 11.2 inches in rise but only 8.7 in pull back could I adjust the bar from 90 degrees back toward the rider an inch and make the pull back increase an inch.
There is no "industry standard" for bar measurement, so the formula is rather simple; Buy and try, repeat as necesssary. Sorry, is what it is. I got +2 sweepers and wish mine pulled back about 2 more inches also, just remember the further you pull back, the further you have to stretch at full lock left and right.
When I was shopping for bars I knew I wanted a lot of pullback so I studied the specs on most of them. I found that Wild One's 577's had a lot of pullback so I went with those and they have been great.

There's a lot of truth in that.
I went through this in 2005. Measured, looked on the web, went to the dealer, compared bars, etc. Read some more on the web. Finally decided to try what I thought I wanted and it turned out to be the right choice the first time.
People will tell you to sit on different bikes with the bars you think you want. That's not the whole story. Unless the bike you're on trying out bars has the same seat you won't get a real apples to apples comparison. Seat and bars go together. Sometimes a seat change fixes what you thought was a bar fitment problem.
