I am getting a zzzzick noise when the bike is warm and I let off the throttle or get on the throttle from compression. The more gradual the change is between the two the longer the noise lasts. I also have louder than normal shifts once the bike is warm. I suspected the primary chain, but I have pulled the outer primary and inspected the chain adjuster. I dont see anything wrong there.
Bike is an 08 ultra with 30k on the clock. Any help would be appreciated.
An audio recording of you trying to reproduce this zzzzick noise will be required for further diagnostics....not an audio recording of the actual noise (that would not be helpful!), just you making the noise.
For calibration purposes, a clip of you singing "Karma Chameleon" by Culture Club will also be required.

... your knowledge and insight is astounding. i worry you may have stressed something coming up with that one. seek medical assistance immediately!
The sound is a mechanical sound. I thought It may have been the primary chain slapping the inner primary as the chain went slack while transitioning from power on acceleration to coming down on compression, or from compression to on throttle.
Obviously there is no sound while the bike is still or in neutral.
i disassembled the adjuster and didn't see any badly worn parts. before removing it, the chain had good tension.
i just added mobile 1 to the primary and changed my engine oil. i am waiting for my front tire to get mounted and i will take it for a ride and see if it is still there.
My post was totally in the spirit of fun and was impossible to resist. One man's zzzik is often another man's zzzIck! If you've ever heard an episode of Car Talk on the radio you'd've got it. Listening to people trying to describe a noise to a mechanic is often hilarious.
