Looking at the 2 main options BAL or Custom Dynamics, BAL claims plug and play. Custom Dynamics says I might need a load equalizer if the turn signals are incandescent. I removed the turn signal bar for appearance and use the tourpack as brakes and turn signals. Those bulbs are incandescent. My front turn signals are MOCO led (waiting for those to fail too ) Part of the reason I bought the Moco taillight in the 1st place was it didn't need a load equalizer. Question - Will I need one with the BAL-1 or the Custom Dynamics?

The other difference is it appears that the Custom Dynamics doesn't come with the strobe option as part of the price. They sell a module to flash separately. Is that true?

You do not need a load equalizer with the Bal or the CD taillight. Load equalizer is need when you get into doing the turn signals on most all HD except the '11 and newer Softails and '12 and new Dynas as they are CANBUS. The CANBUS does not require a load equalizer for for turn signals.

BAL has built in strobes. CD has as separate module with 10 strobe/flash patterns that is plug and play.

Bal warranty is 5 years, CD warranty is lifetime on taillight.

Thanks Dave

Great info - Thanks!

So it looks like if I want the strobe option (which i do) they cost about the same. The BAL-1 uses 4 really bright LEDs and the CD uses 120 leds. The BAL-1 has a 5 year warranty vs the CD which is lifetime. Neither require a load equalizer to plug and play on my 11 Ultra.

Tough choice. I'm thinking the BAL is what I saw yesterday. I would like to see the CD in action.

I have the BAL-1, had it a yea and like it. Recently added the CD turns and tourpak LEDs with the RTB module and adapter to make everything out back flash. Very prominent.

As luck would have it, a vendor had Custom Dynamics on display at one of the Milwaukee Rally dealership events so I got to check it out in person. Not bad at all. But, I think I'm leaning towards the BAL-1. I know the one I saw in action on the road 2 days ago really got my attention. It was like night and day compared to the other tail lights in the group. And the strobe really wakes you up too. I'm sold.
