Last fall I installed a set of Harley heated handgrips on my Roadglide. They worked well all winter last year. This weekend I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway and got caught in the rain (par for the course). To warm me up a little I turned them on. Suprise, they do not work after less than 1 year. I checked the fuse and ground and all seems ok. Has anyone else had problems with heated handgrips. Did I just get a bad set or all they all fragile. I do not want to replace them if they are only good for 1 season!
I've had the Harley heated grips on my last two bikes over 4 seasons not one problem.
I do two things that might help them last;
1. I never turn them all the way up - no need to, 1/2 way is plenty.
2. I don't adjust it, at all - power on/off is through the Aux. switch
By not messing with the cheap dial switch or letting it get over hot I feel like they will last a lot longer.
