Default Electra Glide Ultra vs Road King

I have both a Ultra Limited which has been my main ride most of the time and a Road King CVO that I just rode occasionally.

I was thinking why did I need to have two bikes and maybe I would get rid of the CVO but I took it for a ride and realized how well it handles. It seems much more nimble than the UL. The UL has a few percs like Stereo and heated grips but I don't know if that outweighs the handling advantage which seems much more user friendly on the Road King.

I decided to ride the CVO SERK for a main ride for an extended time to see if I like it as much as I liked the UL. Then I'll decide which one I can do without.

Anybody else try something like this?

sort of. i've had two ultras. bought a road king police to fix up and sell and loved it. it was nimble and a lighter rider for sure. been painstakingly deliberating on getting a cvo road king this year since it has the radio, which i love.

the only thing that made me hesitate was the fairing - the 2013 cvo rk has everything else. made the call when my son said "dad - don't be such a pu**y".

traded the limited and pick up my flhrse5 next week. can't wait.

would love to hear how your experiment goes.

oh...i added the heated grips too.

Nice bike you have FLHRSE5. Mine is a FLHRSE4. I looked at both the red and the blue FLHRSE5's at the local Harley dealer. Pretty cool bikes for sure! I just didn't want to get another bike that would keep me as a two biker, if I traded in but the FLHRSE5 sure is a worthy bike and it has the four speaker stereo. Decisions... decisions...

For the guys that said keep em both. I know that. I've had two bikes for several years but they depreciate and are a lot of money tied up plus they have to be insured and registered, etc. etc. I believe in riding em, not owning em if you know what I mean. Live to Ride not Live to Polish is my motto.

Im a big fan of fairings, if for nothing else I like the tunes.

But In your shoes Id have a hard time letting that CVO go. The 105th CVO Road Kings are beautiful bikes. Its one of the very few that I would even THINK of returning to the older chassis to own.

Then again, in the Limited you have the new chassis, etc and all the toys. And you have the (IMHO) best looking color combo.

Thats a TOUGH call man.

Thought of adding a detachable fairing to the king?

I love my Ultra and plan to keep it forever, but I really missed my Road King for short trips, so we have a CVO Anniversary Edition that we're awaiting delivery. With the iPod and the lowers they've fixed the two items I wanted on my RKC. The RK will be the short trip, around town bike and the Ultra will be the longer day bike.

Yup - 03 RK and 2010 Ultra here.

I use the Road King for just about everything. If I'm going to do a bunch of interstate, anticipate foul weather, or taking the wife and all her, um.... stuff, then I take the Ultra.

Ultra has ABS, better wind/rain protection, stereo, GPS, 6-speed, Tour-Pak, yada yada.

The Road King however, is just a friggin' BLAST to ride. It is my default bike.
