Holy Chit! that is insane! It would cost nearly as much just to insure my 97 Springer as it does for me to insure the 97 Springer, 11 SG, 11 Special Build custom, 2006 Grand pri, 2011 Tundra, 66 Mustang, and my house!
Not to get political, but I couldn't resist commenting on this. So you MUST buy the basic from ICBC, wow. When I see things like this it just burns my a$$. Nothing like telling someone they don't have a "choice"...

Same deal here in Manitoba, Canada. The insurance company is owned by the provincial government, and you have to buy your insurance from them, no one else is allowed to insure motor vehicles, by law.

Just a note. USAA doesn't provide motorcycle insurance directly. They push you to a segment of Progressive they have negotiated rates through for USAA customers.
I just switched from progressive(thru USAA)to GEICO and saved a couple hundred a year. I've had USAA car,home and cycle insurance for quite awhile and was shocked at the savings.
