You will run leaner and hotter with a bigger air cleaner. You will need more fuel to let it run cooler which will in turn will run stronger. A power commander 5 would be the simplest and easiest to do that.
My concern now is that through these two breather bolts there will be some residual oil coming out and it will drip down on the engine. Is this going to happen? What solution do you have for this?
Thanks
Oil stays behind the dual screens and dual filters. When you run HARD, there may be some misting on your A/C backplate...but not enough to cause dripping.
The hot oily air hits the first fine mesh screen and breaks up the oil, then it hits the foam filters. The air passes thru and most of the oil gets absorbed by the filter, then drops down to the little reservoir and goes back into the head. The oil that makes it thru the filter hits the outer fine mesh and is broken up into a very fine mist.
Everytime you put the bike on it's kickstand gravity will drop the oil out of the filter & reservoir and back into the engine.
Depending on riding conditions, the filters need cleaning with hot soapy water every 5000 - 10,000 miles. It is a 20 minute job.
Below is a link to a thread about what HD says about proper oil and oil level so you do not get excessive blow by.
