What a nice morning, cool sunny weather, cruising down the road in the town I've lived in for 15 years and next thing I see are lights behind me.
I pull over, see the cop behind me, amazed that the cop is pulling me over. He walks up and says, "I clocked you at 65 in a 50." My jaw drops. I have not gotten a ticket in 25 years, safe driver record and I know I was not speeding. I was in the slow lane with people passing me!
With my spedo being off slightly, I would have had to have been showing 68mpg on my speedo to be clocked at 65 (speedo 3 mpg off) in a 50 zone. There is no way....
The cop comes back and says, "I gave you a break. Instead of $266, it's only $166. and 3 points instead of 4."
So instead of heading the HD dealer to buy some goodies, I turn around go home and now I'm trying to figure out how to take an online driving school and pay this ticket. Not getting any ticket in 25 years, have no clue where to begin.
Enough of my rant, gotta start searching the web to figure out payment/school.
Ride safe out there.
Well,,,,,,......If You want too Play, You gotta Pay!
Get a haircut, shave, wear a dress shirt and dress pants. Go to the court date and contest it. The Judge will probably only drop the school seeing how the officer already dropped both fine and points. They will keep the fine as stated most likely. If you are lucky, he might just drop another point or all the points because of your squeeky clean record.
I've had cops pull me over and claim that I was going 15 mph over the speed limit when I knew for a fact that I wasn't. I just wanted to tell them to check my record and they'll see that I never went just 15 mph over the speed limit. In my younger days, I rode bikes that were a lot faster than my Harley and being young and stupid, I treated speed limits as mere suggestions. Of all the broken bones and internal injuries that I have had from motorcycles over the years though, not a single incident was due to riding over the speed limit. Other dumb things, but not from speeding...
I suspect that one of the main reasons that I exceeded the speed limit by such large amounts way back then was that the speed limits were 55 at that time. If you routinely drive 85 since the roads were built to handle that speed, you were driving 30 mph over the speed limit. These days, that same road might have a 75 or 80 mph speed limit on it and driving 85 on it will probably not get you a ticket... When Texas DOT first raised the speed limit on Houston highways, the City of Houston and its Police Department started complaining about loss of revenue. Prior to that, they had adamantly stated that speed limits and traffic enforcement are for safety and NOT for revenue generation. Lying sacks of excrement!

Since I completed the online course, no points will be added. I have to go to the clerk of ocurts to show the certificate I got. I'm thinking that the ticket will show up though...
Oh well. Up early, heading out on a nice long ride today with the wife.
Thanks for all the responses. Have a good one and ride safe.
Seems like the bikes come with pre-installed end of the month Blues.
I've gotta wonder why they did that?
And what the fix for the Blues is?
***Thought*** What is? and who makes the 68 mp-"G?" erh,.. Spedo?

The last ticket I got on a bike was in '06 when I just bought my Road Glide.
Got stopped by one of 6 motor cops operating on a residential street hiding in a school parking lot with a radar gun.
The cop walks out from behind the bushes into the street and tells me to pullover.I parked my bike near their beemer cop bikes.
As the cop was asking for my info,a couple of his buddies are checking out my bike and said they wish the SJPD stayed with Harley's!
Anyway got a ticket for going 35 in a 25.
A few weeks went by and got a notice from the court saying the officer did not get enough info on me so the ticket was dismissed.
I wonder if it was because I had previously registered for the annual police sponsored benefit motorcycle ride.
in Florida you can use a Ticket Buster lawyer. They advertize on billboards or google one. You can fax the ticket and pay them $80 by credit card over the phone and the ticket disappears. I think you have to pay court costs but at least there are no points or blemish on your driving record. I've done it twice.

Oh Man that's Haleriuos!!!! For 25 years really? A bit on the chilly side I would think? The Law said you could only,....What?
Well,...If you've been wearing a 68 Mile per Gallon Speedo for 25 years and it was slightly off,...What the Hell did ya expect the cop to do?
