In va. I never pay for a speeding ticket, but I will pay for an inproper equip.
As my speed-o-meter is always broken. The last one I got I went to the dodge
dealer and got me a cable (there were 3 cables, I got the cheapest one) as I
remember it was like $35.00 then took the cable to my mechanic he changed it
and wrote it up as repaired. When I got to court I presented my case to the
judge with the paper trail and he reduced it to inproper equip. I was fined whatever,
they got their pound of flesh and I got away with a clean driving record!
NOW THAT WHAT I CALL A WIN WIN SITUATION. As I do like to support the system.
When I was younger I would take a lawyer, cause you know the judge ONCE used to
be a lawyer. I callled that a WIN, WIN, WIN situation. But I finallly cut out the bottom
feeder UH I mean the middle man. ..............tenn.vol.
Sucks. I hadn't gotten a ticket in at least 25 yrs. Driving the wife's A-4 get off the freeway, hang a right then I'm lit up by a motor cop. He says no right turn on a red! So I cop a plea, I ask was there a sign? When I get to the tax lady she tells me they just put that sign up. In California generally you can turn right on a red as long as it is safe. Went to traffic school, what a joke, surrounded by numb-nuts and disgruntled sheriffdeputies, WHEEEE! You will get through it, you pays your money and takes your chances. Get those points off your license, you will feel better! Good luck. K.W.
Damn the Chipies are citing deputies down there now? Things sure are changing
He takes my license, registration and insurance back to his bike.
Comes back and asks what I ride.
Then we had a little conversation about bikes.
Then he says, "slow down... and thanks for not handing me some bullshit excuse."
........ just another of the benefits of riding a Road Glide

LOL,That's a pretty good system. How many times have you run that on the same judge??
I always pull out my retired Army ID along with liscence, and 9 times out of 10 they were prior service. It has saved me a ticket at least 6 or 7 times, knock on wood.
Ask for a court date. It's possible the officer wont show up or file the ticket in the allotted amount of time.
No need to go to the DMV the judge will have your driving record in front of him. Since you have a clean record you have an excellent chance. I've done it twice in Fl over a 10 year period with no tickets in between and the judge withheld adjudication of guilt. No fine or points or driving school.
When he asked me how I plead I plead no contest with an explanation.
I've had cops pull me over and claim that I was going 15 mph over the speed limit when I knew for a fact that I wasn't. I just wanted to tell them to check my record and they'll see that I never went just 15 mph over the speed limit. In my younger days, I rode bikes that were a lot faster than my Harley and being young and stupid, I treated speed limits as mere suggestions. Of all the broken bones and internal injuries that I have had from motorcycles over the years though, not a single incident was due to riding over the speed limit. Other dumb things, but not from speeding...
I suspect that one of the main reasons that I exceeded the speed limit by such large amounts way back then was that the speed limits were 55 at that time. If you routinely drive 85 since the roads were built to handle that speed, you were driving 30 mph over the speed limit. These days, that same road might have a 75 or 80 mph speed limit on it and driving 85 on it will probably not get you a ticket...
When Texas DOT first raised the speed limit on Houston highways, the City of Houston and its Police Department started complaining about loss of revenue. Prior to that, they had adamantly stated that speed limits and traffic enforcement are for safety and NOT for revenue generation. Lying sacks of excrement!
The way people in houston drive i dont blame the cops i wish there were more of them.......i get passed. Daily by idiots. Doin 110mph in rush hour traffic
