Default Speeding Ticket on the RG

What a nice morning, cool sunny weather, cruising down the road in the town I've lived in for 15 years and next thing I see are lights behind me.

I pull over, see the cop behind me, amazed that the cop is pulling me over. He walks up and says, "I clocked you at 65 in a 50." My jaw drops. I have not gotten a ticket in 25 years, safe driver record and I know I was not speeding. I was in the slow lane with people passing me!

With my spedo being off slightly, I would have had to have been showing 68mpg on my speedo to be clocked at 65 (speedo 3 mpg off) in a 50 zone. There is no way....

The cop comes back and says, "I gave you a break. Instead of $266, it's only $166. and 3 points instead of 4."

So instead of heading the HD dealer to buy some goodies, I turn around go home and now I'm trying to figure out how to take an online driving school and pay this ticket. Not getting any ticket in 25 years, have no clue where to begin.

Enough of my rant, gotta start searching the web to figure out payment/school.

Ride safe out there.

Bummer about the ticket. An online school would not be too bad. Up here the schools are still all classroom style. If you speed, it would appear that you need to come to ND though. Our tickets are $20 court fees and $1 per mile. 15 over would only be $35.

Sucks. I hadn't gotten a ticket in at least 25 yrs. Driving the wife's A-4 get off the freeway, hang a right then I'm lit up by a motor cop. He says no right turn on a red! So I cop a plea, I ask was there a sign? When I get to the tax lady she tells me they just put that sign up. In California generally you can turn right on a red as long as it is safe. Went to traffic school, what a joke, surrounded by numb-nuts and disgruntled sheriff deputies, WHEEEE! You will get through it, you pays your money and takes your chances. Get those points off your license, you will feel better! Good luck. K.W.

He probably picked up one of those vehicles passing you and thought it was you. I've had them make that mistake before, when I tell them it wasn't me, usually they say then I know who it was, and race off after them. Once I pointed at my radar detector and said I picked him up miles before he picked me up and no way was I speeding. That saved me. Then you do have the dishonest cops who lie and give out tickets just to bring in money or for whatever other reason. I've met them before too. Think about going to court, you might win.

In Arkansas, if it's been a few years since your last ticket you can get it deferred, no classes, just pay the cash price and take a 90 day probation period and nothing shows up on your record, if in fact you make it past those 90 days and you can only defer once a year or two... Just call your DMV and ask them what your options are....

Thumbs up Sux!!!!

Eastern Colorado, Sunday morning, 5:30 a.m., westbound towards Estes Park. Been driving the whole night through from Chicago, left there at 7:00 pm the night before.

Not a soul in sight. Haven't seen another vehicle for 20 minutes.

So..... I open her up a bit. It's a brand new BMW K1100RS, just broken in a couple weeks before.

I'm clocking 128 mph for MILES, when all of a sudden I get that weird hair standing up on the back of my neck feeling.

Sure 'Nuff, here comes the 21 year old just got out of the academy Colorado State Trooper, pulling me over, pulling his damn gun out and pointing it at me, shaking like a leaf........ I was fu&*ing praying that he didn't accidentally pull the trigger.

Made me drive 109 miles back in the wrong direction to the county seat to see the Sunday judge, who had a little pity on me seeing that I had been on the bike now for 12 hours and still had to hit Estes.

Fine? $500.00 big ones!!!!! As it was a camping trip, mostly just up old fire roads in the mountains, the fine cost me more than the whole trip!

I sold the K-Bike and bought another Harley. Now I pretty much just enjoy the scenery, staying at about 9 over the limit max.

It was still a damn good motorcycle vacation!

Got lit up the other morning (by a motor cop), heading to work in my truck.
He says "you were clocked at 58 in a 45, what's your excuse?"
I told him I wasn't late or anything... no excuse, really.
He takes my license, registration and insurance back to his bike.
Comes back and asks what I ride.
Then we had a little conversation about bikes.
Then he says, "slow down... and thanks for not handing me some bullshit excuse."
No ticket... this time.

Had a small town cop in Arkansas pull up close, looked at the speedo, it's ok, few seconds later, lights. Said I was going 30 over. WTF!? Was "nice" & just gave me a ticket for 10 over. Had a few small town cops stop me, got bogus speeding tickets twice, last was over 30 years ago. Kind of like hitting a deer, some days you just get taken by surprise, even when you're doing everything right. Did get caught doing 30 or 40 over once, but the bike was faster... I haven't had that kind of foolishness for a few decades now.
