Got a great deal finally on a top and bottom for my street glide. The bottom is from an Ultra and has everything in it. It is already black with the silver and red pinstripe, but the top is red. My initial plan was to leave the bottom black and paint just the top. After closer inspection I discovered that there is a crack in the bottom from about the middle of the front latch (if looking from above) and curves down toward the front of the bottom. NOW I have to see about getting it repaired. The first person that I brought it to is leary of repairing it because he said that it looks like a stress point and doesnt think the repair will work. I have two more people I want to bring it to first but I am concerned that he is correct. He also wanted 350 to paint the entire pack (without a repair). I did searches and cant find any solid info on actually repairing a newer plastic pack.
I am trying to figure out if the bottom can be repaired reliably and how much should I expect to pay for prep and paint.....??
I know it's not what you want to hear, but you are going to have as much in a repainted repaired pak as you would have spent on a perfect used eBay deal. I spent over 3 months looking, but finally scored a brand new one on eBay for 7 bills. From what I understand, the plastic ones don't repair Well like the older glass ones did...
and as a kinda fwiw reference-I'll have about 1200 in my TP when it's all said and done, and that does not include mounting and wiring. I does include the lights, pad, speakers, liner, top rack, and paint. New from the MoCo would have doubled that.

I would be concerned that a repaired TP would never be quite right. I bought mine color matched with everything, ready to mount for $700. Might want to cut your losses on the one you have and look for a non-damaged one.
Check out Vtwin mfg. They sell ABS clones of the pre '087 TP. I bought mine ready to install w/o paint for $750. No speakers or lights but included passenger backrest and QD mount
I can get a new bottom for under 300 unpainted, but then I have to paint it. I have been hunting for a LOOOONNNNGGG time for an 06 up pack and they are just hard as hell to find and for the price I still have to get them painted (at least the ones that I have found). I was going to try and repair this one myself, but I wanted to talk to a few experts first. I have a couple of ideas for repair that should work (hopefully) just not sure about reliability and with the wife on the back going over 1000 miles from home in the spring I want to make sure that everything is reliable.
The first guy I talked to wanted 350 for painting the entire pack....Does that sound reasonable to everyone? I haven't had anything painted in years and that was only with brother-in-law deals and me doing all of the prep work.
My last resort is the same pak from Surdyke. The same one painted is only 739. + shipping. I want to say that someone had the 20% off and free shipping but I can't remember who it was.
