I wish I had read this thread before I bought my 12" shocks 2 weeks ago. It's all true, my spine can't take it. It looks good, handles good, but man, they are brutal on the back.

This link of my thread will fix the shock problem. Before I did this I told my wife either this bike will ride smooth or we'll have a gold wing that does. I still have my lowering blocks on, not because I need it lowered it just looks cool lower. I did this a year ago and I still ride the HD Street Glide....no Wing ding'r for me. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...y-08-flhx.html
There's a company that rebuilds the stock shocks and sets them up lowered too. I've heard good things about them but damn if I can remember who they are. I've pissed several times since I read that thread.....so it's now gone. A little help here.....anyone?
I did swap the oil with 10w and WOW I could ride solo with 5psi (I am 230#) wish I would have done that 2 years ago (09sg). Than I ended up with RK shocks (13") with the LA Chopper 1" lowering block and 10w oil, now I have more suspension travel etc, loving it and for the $150, IMHO money well spent.
There are plenty of threads in here about shocks - comes up as often as oil! We have an HDF sponsor in Howard of Motorcycle Metal who can cure all the problems you chaps have. He's on the end of the phone!
+1 for Howard and his knowledge. I'm vertically challenged and ended up lowering the front 1 inch with Progressive Monotubes and have a set of 2-2 12" Ohlins (that sag about an inch) and have no problem flat-footing now and have never bottomed out, even when riding 2-up. The GF says the rode is several times better compared to the CVO stock shocks.

glad to see someone else has done this. its something i will offer to my customers as well
I get the Ohlins thing, I guess at this point I'm very happy with the ride, maybe its because I came from the profile low shocks. At any rate, I'll spend the nearly $1K on audio upgrades.
Luncay, I'm sure to you Ohlins fans, but I think at this point, for me, improvements need to be made elsewhere.
I have 11" Bitchin Bagger Drop shocks on my 2008 FLHRC.
They are stock air shocks they cut down and changed spring and fluid, added a stop .
I think they ride about the same as the 13" just a little less travel .
Bike handles great .
