Narrowed it down to 14'' flyin apes and would love the 1.50 bars but they have a width of 41.5'' and the 1.25 bars are 34.5 inches wide which i think would be better in the handling around corners???
Have the heritage style touring bars on now that measure 34''.
The 14's will be more like 15's. Just sayin. Carlini's run a little long just so ya know.
The stock risers on your RK will take the 1.25's fine. If you go with the 1.5's, you have to swap them out. Then there's the grips and the switch housings.
my apes are 37in wide and I love them and it looks killer when looking at the rider from behind. I do not notice any crazy difference in the handling of the bike, but maybe im just used to it.
Have not ridden anything with apes but sat on one with some other brand which were wider yet and you could barely hold onto the bar when at max turn.
I decided on the 14'' carlini cuz they run high as i was always thinking 16''.
I have 16" Flying Apes (really 17.5") that are 34.5" wide and 18" Wild One Chubbies that are 40.5" wide. Honestly, both are equally good for general riding, control, twisties, etc. once you adjust to the differences. Maybe on very low speed maneuvers the Flying Apes at 34.5" give you a sense of slightly more control while the Chubbies at 40.5" might give you a better hand position while cruising down the highway. I am 6' and the bars are on Softails (lowered). SJ Ron
I thought about the same thing when I pulled the trigger on my 1.25' 16's. After sitting on my bike with a stick that I cut the same width as the 1.50's, I realized that they were wider than the beach bars that I had on the bike at the time. I didnt want my arms spread that wide while they were up that high. I love the handling of the narrower bars and I'm glad I went that route.
My 16" are 40" wide, and I really like them.... of course, I complained that my 35" wide beach bars weren't wide enough, so maybe I just like wider bars. But, 1.5" bars are sweet!!!! Love the way they look. My step down to 1" on the grips and for the risers, so everything fit fine - no issues

The stock grips and switch housings will work on the 1.5". You only have to change the riser.
