2005 Ultra Classic- Installed new front motor mount, Compensator, Engine alignment is okay. Seems worst since converting to a Frankenstein Trike. Vibration getting worst as time goes by. Handle bars, floorboards and Engine shakes from idle to 3500 RPM. Clutch basket ring gear Rivets loose. Can't seem to find the problem.
Clutch basket ring gear Rivets loose.?? Is that a statement or a question? If you get into primary again be sure to pull alternator rotor completely off and look at spline. Dealer went into mine and missed it twice that spline was completely gone.
Hello there
with out noing all the history it could be anything. What was the motor running like before any alterations, start from that point of view first then look at the motor second. The worst case would be crank not as it should be. Needs looking at by a good garage with no vested interest.
Good luck
tbone.
From my experience, the new motor mount is the first place I'd look.
My first one finally failed and so I bought an aftermarket one off EBay guaranteeing to last a "really long time." The vibration during "break in" was so bad that I took it off. I thought it was going to break something on the bike.
So I ordered a Stabo front mount and it was perfect. Smoothest ride the bike ever gave me. But it failed on the way home from work, ( it did have 20,000 miles on it,) and in an act of desperation I installed the "lasts a long time" take off unit that I still had sitting on my shelf.
It shook almost as badly as when I first put it on but 'beggars can't be choosers' if I wanted to get to work that week.
Long story short, it's still on there. It did break in. It didn't break anything else on the bike while it was breaking in, and maybe it really will last a "really long time.".
I had a new motor mount installed by the dealer at 38,000 miles on my 2005 Road King. Dealer said that the new mounts are a lot stiffer, hence the more vibration. It was driving me crazy, so I fixed it by trading in the bike on a new 2012 Electra Glide. Vibration problem solved.
