A while back I replaced the stock bars with with some Yaffe 10". Had to buy new brake lines. Initially there was some binding of the throttle cables but with a bit of tweaking they snapped back just fine.
I went in about a week ago and adjusted the bars a bit more forward. Since then I get almost no snap back. I have loosend the bars and tried them in multiple positions - no luck. I took out on of the faring supports and routed the cables to the inside rather than around the outside - no luck. Cables have been properly lubed. I am following the manual info for both cruise and non-cruise bikes. Cables are adjusted to give the butterfly full open at horizontal. No luck.
Page 8-9 of manual says to "check the idle stop screw is touching the idle stop". I have looked all over and can not find a picture of the stop screw.
Any ideas?
I have been at this for about 3 hours and I am ready to shoot the bike. Not a good "Harley Experience" day!
When I installed my new throttle cables, I learned the routing was causing my binding. I wasnt getting snap back either. I routed them with a natural flow of the cable...basically let the cable do what it wanted and gained my snap back so I could adjust the cables. How's your adjustment? Are you watching the butterfly in your throttlebody as you adjust? I'm sure you are, I just thought I'd ask. Good luck!
It is possible that you kinked the cables and they are now trashed. Or it could be in your throttle twist grip. If either is binding up no snap back. I would start by taking the grip housing off and see if that helps just cuz that's real easy. Then in no avail take the cables loose from carb or throttle body and check for free movement if you did kink one just replace the tight one.
Got to be kinked. Put it back together and walked away before I go postal. As long as I am sure to back the throttle off manually I can get it to the indy to fix.
It will be a while before I am mentally stable enough to work on the bike again......................
