Default Newbie needs help!

I'm getting decel pop after installing slip ons and I heard its possibly a exhaust leak. I've researched but ppl say different things. So what I'm wondering is what is the best and easiest way to check for leaks. Thanks

That is only one possible eeason. What are you running for an air cleaner? If you are running a stock air cleaner you should be ok. It is when you change out to a high flow AC that you run into tuning problems.

Make sure all your joints are seated properly and tight.

The decel "pop" could be an exhaust leak, however it could also be attributed to a lean condition ... too much air in the intake tract ... exhaust flowing too free ... are the usual culprits ... the only (100% sure ) way to be sure is to have your scooter checked ... you want to find out what your AFR ( Air to Fuel Ratio ) number is. If the "pop" is minimal and infrequent you're probably not in bad shape, however the only way to sure is to have it checked. It would be advisable to make any other changes you have in mind before you check the AFR number so you don't have to jump through all the hoops again. It's possible ( probable ) that a "Tuner" ( Power Commander, Power Vision ) will be in your future ... Good Luck and hope this helps.

Take them back off, then use some of that sealant, can't remember what it is called right now, but someone will pipe up with the name. And use new clamps. Put them back on and make sure they are on all the way.

You were probably getting decel pop before the slip ons but just couldn't hear them with the stock exhaust. You didn't say what year and model of bike you have and what slip ons were installed so we have very little info.

The newer bikes come very lean from the factory to meet EPA demands. A little decel pop won't hurt anything...if you want performance you will eventually want to replace your stock, restricted A/C and get a tuner. If your on a tight budget, look into XEID's from nightrider.com.

If you really had an exhaust leak, I would think you could feel it around the joints of the slip ons

Sorry guys I have a se ac and a pc III I really don't think it's a tuning issue because I got the map from fuel moto.. Adding fuel and getting it where it needed reduced the pop so I believe I am close.. The pop isn't bad but I just don't like it.

I agree with rooti, the decel pop was more noticable after I put slips on and didnt change after I put XIEDs on. When I put put my PCV on to work on my ping problem(diff discussion) I added 5% more fuel from 750-1200 rpm range which did help a lot but still noticed it with the Jackpots. When I went with the Fatshotz using the same map, the pop on decel went away indicating I no longer had a lean idle condition.

You can try re-torquing the muffler clams. They are supposed to be a one use item, but I have successfully reused them. Check for exhaust leaks around the clamps. Re-set your zero and 100% throttle on the PCIII with the software. You can also try adding some fuel to the zero throttle setting from 0-30 rpm's 10-20 should do it.

How much pop are you getting? A little pop is ok once in awhile but it shouldnt be each and everytime as soon as you let off the throttle. I had that pop too and I have a PC-V and before the autotune, I downloaded another map and it went away. Now the only time it pops is when im on the throttle in a gear that holds the rpms at about 3500 and then let off the throttle and let it coast down. Towards the end after decelerating for a lil bit, it will pop but thats normal...or I should say not harmful.
