Default Converting to 21" and single front rotor???

I know a 21"is a simple conversion, but what's involved in doing a single rotor at the same time on my 04' ultra?

brake line to only 1 line and if you want to ,shave the caliper mounting bosses from the right lower leg.also if you go single sided you might want to upgrade to a 6 piston caliper and a 13" rotor. You don't have to if you don't want to but it looks better.

I would try to talk to some people that have done this to see if they like it. I talked to a guy today at a harley dealership that did it, and he said he wishes he wouldn't have.

He said his braking power sucks big time now, you basicly cut your front braking power in half. Depends on the way you ride of course, it probably works ok for some people. Just my 2 cents.

Buy a shaved right leg and use a good caliper on the left side and you will be alright !

I just did mine about a month ago. Here is all what I did. The only thing I didn't do is change my master cylinder to a smaller bore. It's not necessary, more of a lever feel thing.

1. 13" rotor with a 6'piston caliper (definitly necessary)
2. New chrome lowers for single side rotor to get rid of the fender mounting on the lowers (not necessary, but from a looks standpoint it is)
3. Hub cover from the wheel mfg. to cover up the right side rotor mounting holes that will now be exposed (not necessary but looks clean)
4. New brake line (necessary)
5. Upgraded my fork suspension since I was changing my lowers (not necessary)

I believe that's everything. I've yet to get pics, just been lazy, but I'll see if I can snap a few today and post.

I have a hard time grasping the reason(s) for converting to a single caliper. I sorta understand why some fo the "Big Wheel" (23"+) baggers would make this change, but IMO the dual stopping power is a plus for a 700+ pound bike.

It's definitely a looks thing, not a performance thing, and yes you do lose some stopping power.

However, even with 2 rotors I never Only used the front brakes. I mainly use downshifting, along with equal front and rear brakes if its an emergency situation.

To each his own I guess.
