You can & many do ... I prefer Redline trans fluid in the trans vs synth motor oils.
The CVO models I think still come with Syn 3 in all 3 holes... may have changed
I use...
Engine- Mobil1 VTwin 20-50
Primary - HD Formula+
Trans - Redline shock proof
Lots of people do the multiple oil thing.
When I did my 1K service at the dealer, I had them do a synthetic service. When I did my own 5K service I just did Mobil1 engine oil. Now I'm ready for my 10K service and am pretty much wondering the same thing since I need to drain all three holes.
I run Modil 1 V-Twin 20W-50mfg in all three holes. Did on my last bike. Everything seems smoother and quieter IMO. Bottom line is ask around think over what everyone tells you, then go with what makes sense to you and what works best for you.
HD Formula Plus in the Primary, SYN 3 in the Motor, and Redline Shockproof Transmission Fluid in the trans. I have used SYN 3 in all 3 in the past, but it seems to be a waste of money putting it in the primary. This is the first time using Redline in the transmission and so far I've ridden it two days and it's smooth as butter. By the way around here the SYN 3 is only a buck more per quart over Mobil 1 so I just buy that since I have to get my filter at the dealership (I refuse to use other filters! YouTube the cutaway videos if you want to know why.)
