I have the TL headlight and aux lights on my '10 FLHTK.
I've had other riders tell me that that can see definitely see them better in their mirrors compared to other bikes....and can see them better if I'm coming towards them during the day.
And at night there is NOT COMPARISON! I ride to work nearly all year long, and this time of year it means leaving in the dark and riding home in the dark, 60 miles round trip. I'm glad I waited for the Phase 7, but really wished I had gotten the Phase 6 when they first came out.
discountfleetsupply has them on sale right now for $409.99 plus free shipping. You can't even buy the HD HEADLIGHT for that.
And it' an easy installation. I have the trim rings on my headlight and aux lights and they look great. Without the trim rings I don't like the looks as well as they DO stick out a little further.
I have both done. (HD brand) A 7" and pair of 4's. As soon as I put them on I was sure that they where worth it. I live and ride in deer country and they do make me feel better about night rides. (3 close calls last year) They really make the signs and critters eyes "pop" making them much easier to see.
As for day time use I feel that they stand out alot more then what most people are used to seeing and there for they will take a 2nd look. I have seen this in city riding. They are just not "normal looking" and seem to get alot of WTH looks. But I get looks and that makes me feel better about people seeing me..
There aren't too many people who enjoy driving at night. I certainly try to avoid it at all costs, but unfortunately things don't always work out the way you plan.
We did a trip out to the east coast last summer and there was a night that we got caught in the dark. Thankfully I bought the HD LED prior to heading out and was so thankful. The difference over stock at night is remarkable. My riding buddy couldn't stop laughing about just how bright and just how much of a difference the headlight made..... even to him riding behind me.
Overall when you consider what you spend on other mods and parts for your bike, the safety of a better headlight is a small investment.
Everybod has an opinion on price and style between the HD and Trucklite. I can appreciate that the HD is considerably more expensive, but I simply don't like the look of the Phase 6 or 7 Trucklite. Doesn't really matter which of those lights you use, it is $$ well spent and you won't be disappointed.
I purchased the Trucklite LED Headlight and passing lamps. I love them. When I ride in the daytime, it is so bright it casts a huge illumination on road signs. Very impressive and very visible. I will take them off this Ultra and put them on the next bike if that time ever comes.
Didnt see that big of an advantage of the HD over the Truklite 7 that I bought ...brightness of the LED is far superior to any stock light (from head-on approach)...price difference was what swayed me to the trucklite....all I felt that I was missing was the bar and shield logo..went with the headlight and passing lamps..visibility of bike's light from a 45 degree angle is less than stock..tradeoff I guess for the brightness
