Default Rev Perf EMS with FM107

Anyone running this combination? I'm in the middle of the FM107 build and caught a fair bit of grief from the head porter (who also dyno tunes) about the Rev Perf system. His advice (unsolicited) was to immediately scrap the EMS and put a real "tuner" on it. I have been very happy with the EMS to date on my 96 with a stage 1 intake and upgraded exhaust.

Curious to hear any opinions if you're running this setup.

Since he's been running it prior to the big bore, I'm sure the EMS is right for the bike.

I'm running one on my 96cu SG but other then cams, exhaust & air filter, there's no other engine work done on it.

If your trying to squeeze every bit of HP & TQ out of your build, you probably could do better tuner wise but if you want a decent performing bike without dyno time and maps, stay with the EMS after you get your ECM reflashed by Rev. Performance. Of course that's just my opinion.

find a different dyno tuner if you want to stay with the ems. personally i like the power vision and i think fm might give you a discount if you trade yours in.

There's no adjustments on the EMS that a dyno tuner can fine tune. The ECM is flashed for your upgrades and then the control box self tunes the bike. Like I said, it makes for a great running bike but will not self tune to extract all available HP & TQ which for many is just fine.

That's BS. I had an EMS on my 107" with Tman 590 cams and stage 2 heads. My bike never saw a dyno and I never felt the need to put it on one. Bike ran flawlessly and made tremendous power. Even guys with built 110's couldn't keep up. Head porter may be trying to get more dough from you or not familiar with the EMS. Either way if you like it, you keep it. Whats the point of spending money on a part you already have and are happy with? That's dumb...

Thanks for the feedback. I have no intention of trying to get the bike dyno tuned. The primary reason I went with the EMS was to avoid dyno tuning. To date the EMS has been great and I have nothing but props for Rev Perf's customer service. Fuel Moto didn't express any concerns either but I didn't really push them on it.

The EMS is a great system. As for your tuner, he's uninformed. IF you go to a 107 displacement you are still within the 20% displacement capability of the EMS. Now if you change to a more radical cam, you will need a new calibration flashed to your ECM to get the most our of your new build. The guys at Rev Per will flash your ECM for free. All you have to do is call them and get the instruction sheet and ECM to them. That's what I did when I went to the 57H cam. Had mine back in 3 days.

Pay no attention to the throttle position, Alpha N tuner type comments. That's old technology. Call Rev Per and they will take care of you and help you get the maximum out of your build.

Nuff said.
