same bike, same symptoms, third stator. I am also at 120K miles.

Last year I had similar problems. It was found to be a battery connection--the terminal bolt had loosened up and welded itself in the loose position. You might try loosening the terminals and the tightening them back up.

The stator is just a conductor rotating in a magnetic field. It's either working or not IMO. The rectifyer/regulator is electronic, I'd also think that it would die hard. What does that leave? Just connections (plugs-ins, cables, battery ground).

With the voltmeter reading zero the bike reads the same...12.5 across and 14.3 with engine running.

Where does the voltmeter wire go to?
