What is the best method to determine the correct size? I like the LRS and they are 40% off today. But, I am a short rider, only 5'6" and prefer to look over the shield. I like the 8" because I think I could use the 3 pouch bag with it, but I think it may land right in my line of site. Don't think the 6" will allow room for the pouch but I think I could see over it. Does the 6" perform better than the stock shield?
So, upon the suggestion of many I ordered a 7" LRS off eBay for $55 shipped. Got it Saturday. It is installed and I rode a little bit today. Not sure yet. Feel like I might be getting MORE wind in my face now and my head was buffeting a little bit. Real teats will be to work in the morning. For that price I can afford maybe to get was I was really thinking, a 9" Ultra Flat Top.
Currently have 8.5" KW's, but just ordered a 9" LRS re-curve today so we'll see how much difference the make/designs have...soon, I hope (come-on spring)!
The factory windshield on my Ultra was right in my line of sight. I decided a I needed a lower one so I bought the 9" LRS recurve. After 5 months and 2 lower corners broke off at the bolt holes, I took that POS off the bike. I used what was left as a template to mark the bottom of the factory shield and cut 3" off it. The LRS now rests in the the local landfill site. Do not buy acrylic windshields.
Just traded in my '04 Sportster 883XL for an '11 Electra Glide Classic. I love it!
I plan to add a rider backrest soon, and want to change the windshield but don't know which is best. I am torn between the HD Windsplitter and Klock Werks. I would love to get some input on both to help in my decision.
Thanks,
Pete
Slipstream makes a 8'' dark black shrty under 50$ just tall enough to hide my 3 windsheild bags,I love it,it looks great. Im 5'11'' and get hardly any wind buffeting which I wont tolorate, great product and cheap! Its mounted on a 09 ultra classic. If you want to spend twice as much this might not be for you! J&P has Slip Stream 8'' smoked for 64.99
Installed a 6" LRS Ultra in dark tint last week and there is a noticeable difference in buffeting and it looks great. Probably should have gone with a 7" but it's still better than my 6.5" Klock Werks. At 5'10" I think anything taller would be right in my line of sight. The fit, quality and tint of the LRS are perfect IMO. The Klock Werks does help with stability at high speed but lets to much air in on the sides for me.
I have 2 LRS Ultra shields and love both of them. A shorter 7" for around town and then a 10" for long distance road trips. I just waited until they had a 40% off sale and bought both of them for less than 1 Klockwerks.
