Default mid frame heat sheild

Went to put the shields on my 2012 Streetglide and found that my adjustable drivers backrest control mounts in the same top hole. Anyone ran into this? Was thinking of installing a longer bolt but I think the shield will really limit access to the lever. Thanks for any input. By the way the right side went on fine and of course that is where most of the heat comes from.

That is correct. The heat shield will use the same hole but will be installed between the backrest adjuster bracket and the frame. That off the bracket, install shield then reattach the bracket securing both to the frame with the same fastener through the same hole. Make sense?

I went through the same thing when I installed the backrest (already had the mid shields).

Good luck

Btw, access is fine, even with gloves. I actually liked this set up because the bracket is hidden behind the shield.

Just my opinion though.
