Had good luck with HD and AGM batteries in the EG. I do run the W/M batteries in our 4whlrs but wouldn't want to mess with the acid drain tube
on the bikes.
It was a 3.5 year old battery.
Figured $100 bux was cheap insurance, and not worth that to be stranded somewhere.
I was searching the web and found a "upgrade" 500cca 20ah battery. But they won't be ready to ship until 6-20-13. Any of you guys seen or heard of them?
These are advertised as Harley batteries. They even have the same part number and the one for my Fatboy is only $121 shipped. Thought you guys might want to check it out.
I would be interested if anyone suggest a Walmart? I have em in all vehicles and they are fine...don't know about Harley?
Hap
Just put one in. Have Walmart in 5 different cars and trucks. Just as good as anything out there. USA.. Motorcycle one is not but is AGM glass mat. You add acid but per instructions mat absorbs it. No acid tubes..seals snap in. Took about all night for Harley maintenance charger to top it off. Old Harley battery 6 years 8 months was showing good but had just lost it's grunt (it kicked back couple times). Only problem I saw with Walmart battery is the terminals do not come flush with the side and a Softail terminals come up from the bottom and bolt flush to the side. It came with steel (crap)extensions, but they were too long. I took a piece of 1/4" copper and sawed two shims and drilled them. Guess that is what you get for $80. Spins over great now. Check back in 5 years? HA PS, it weighted 1 lb less then the Harley one.

I know this isn't exactly responsive to your question but my 06 Ultra is still on its original battery. It's always been on a battery tender since new as have the batteries in my two 05 Honda quads and 08 Polaris Razor. All are still using the original battery. Maybe I'm just lucky, but the battery tenders seem to have saved me a lot of money and frustration. Just thought I would pass it along.
07 original battery as well and on a tender when not used. will replace it with the OEM Harley battery when the need arises. Just because the Deka battery is built by the same company as the Harley battery does not mean it is the same quality and specifications as the OEM. Batteries are very deceiving as to the internals. Just MO.
