Been wanting to put some foglights on my roadglide for some time now.
But when i look them up in the Harley catalog they say they will work
on every bike except the roadglide. It can't be because of the engine bars, Hell there
is lots of room for lights, Anyone ever dealt with this issue ?[:@]
I installed the fog lamps on my RKC and am very happy with them. I'm guessing that the issue is that the fairing mount interferes with the fog lamp mount on the engine guard. The fog lamps have to be be mounted on the straight part of the engine guard before it starts curving. Looking at mine, I can see where it would be a problem if a fairing was mounted to it.
Well two possiblities here.
1. Is the engine guard on your Roadglide 1 1/4 inches in diameter?
If not the clamp wont fit tight.
2. Is there a switch blank on the fairing where you can mount the switch.
If not you'll have to make one or use a different switch.
If these are the lights your refering to they will fit a Roadglide. I have them on and wired to the acc switch. The fairing mount does make it close but the will fit.
My buddy has the HD fog lamps on his '05 RG; wires inside the engine guard and wired to the accessory switch. Many others have posted that they installed them on their RG's; have no idea why HD's catalog says they don't fit RG's--it might be that the installation instructions for the kit calls for running the wiring outside the engine guard and the wiring would then be routed over the RG's turn signal brackets raising issues about friction between the wiring andthose brackets. My buddy loves the fog lamps. Oh, and I have had the HD fog lamps on my '04 EG for almost two years, wires inside the engine guard and wired to the accessory switch on the fairing cap, and am really pleased with them. Great extra light at night, and very helpful with being noticed by cages in the daytime.
They will fit, no problem except the switch they give you cant be used, but most people use the switch on the dash to power them anyway. I have a set Im putting on my 07 rg and no problem with fitment of the lights themselves at all.
I used Motolights, mounted on the brake calipers. Very clean looking and work great. Wired them into the accessory switch outlet. They send full instructions.
This was also frustrating for me, as I have lowers year-round, which makes it impossible to use the top of the bars.
In the future, Iwill be installing the moto fog set on the front calipers ($$$$!!!!),PLUS there is a pair of small but powerful pia 1100?lamps that will sticktape to the underside ofthe fairing under the headlight, orunder at either side of the forks.
If I cannot find it,The option ismake amount that either comes out in front of the lowers from the sidecrash bar(like the airwings mounts), or one that comes from the bottom crashbar or front floorboard mount, and mount 5" offroad spotlamps like "Warn's", which are durable, and work very well on interstates.
The last resort is to fabricate and weld a mount onto the crashbar itself(which is great if you were planning on powdercoating them anyway)
The coolest option would be to recess 5" or 6" spots right in the lowers themselves (which would require an inner bracket fabricated)
