2009 Road King..Warmer weather has my bike feel a bit warmer? I can feel heat off engine now for the first time since I bought it over winter. I have lowers on now and like the protection they give so my question is how do you really know if bike is running to hot for it's own good? I don't know if my Parade Mode is activated or not I haven't looked into it and I really don't want that happening either. I have syn mobil one oil and have XIED on the bench that haven't been installed? Still unsure of that also. So just askin how hot is to hot?!
Hap
Some of the aftermarket tuners have a provision to turn the EIMTS (parade mode) on and off. On the newer bikes, you can turn it on and off with the throttle control by rolling it back against the idle stop for a few seconds. I have the Power Vision which has the head temp in gauge form on the screen so I can see just how hot it's getting. I also use the LeNale cooling fan, which in FL is a must IMHO. I have my EIMTS set to kick in at 305 deg, so I usually turn the fan on at around 300. Brings it right back down to around 280 fast.
Its an internal combustion engine between your legs, you're going to feel heat (generally required to achieve combustion).
Its not too hot, just ride it.

If you put a Crotch Cooler on it you'll be a lot more comfortable!
Its going to get hot, its a v-twin HD. What else have you done to it besides the fl-xied's on the bench? If you are bone stock, put slip on's along with what you have already, that will cool it down, you dont have a cat, so that parts done. If the lowers are fixed, open them up, if they are leather, take em off, that will help cooling to. Why would you NOT want the parade mode to activate? Thats what its there for, to cool it down at slow speeds. Hope this helps you, ride it like you stole it,lol. To activate or deactivate:
1. TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE ON POSITION ( DO NOT START THE ENGINE.)
2. PUSH THE THROTTLE TO ROLL-OFF POSITION AND HOLD.
3. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 SECONDS, THE CRUISE INDICATOR LAMP WILL EITHER FLASH GREEN (ETIMS ENABLED) (OR RED ETIMS DISABLED).
4. REPEAT THE PROCEDURE AS NEEDED TO ENABLE OR DISABLE ETIMS.
The surest way to know is to get an oil temp gauge and monitor that for a while.
Also, if you've done some mods without some sort of tuner (or XiEDs), it could be running lean, causing more heat. And the lowers you are using are certainly restricting airflow a bit too.
