Default Question on sum mods

http://motorcycles.smartcarguide.com/listing/17057404/

Read a few threads on some of this stuff but still unsure and looking for sum feedback. Got a few mods I wanna do and needs some insight. It's a 1998 electra police. I wanna do sum like the bike above

1. I want to rake the front end with racked trees for now. I heard I can use trike trees or should I go with a different product? I'm gonna do a 23" front wheel.

Second thing is I wanna change the forks from stock to either an aftermarket chrome version or the Arlen ness black billet

Third thing is I wanna get more power. I hear switching to carbs is a good idea? Can I increas the engine size with like a 96ci kit? Should I leave it fuel injected and add a power commander or screaming eagle tuner?

Fourth is i want short pipes like v&h short shots or sum similar.

Sorry for all the questions I'm new to the harley world and still learning. So many options I'm confused..

I'll stay away from some of your questions- i think the 'show bikes" are "no-go bikes" and that fashion trends soon become dated. but it IS your bike- and I am prejudiced.

at the least this response will bump you back to the first page.

the early EFI from magnetti marelli for H-D was crap*.
some guys have ok results if they leave the bikes stock.

a carb swap can be a good idea, also involves intake manifold, ignition module and some other stuff...about $600 for a DIY and smart swap meet shopper...maybe $2000 if you drop it off at a shop

the 80" evo motor will make about 75 HP with a cam and good tuning- which is about the same as a 96" twin cam stage 1

however tuning is crucial and pipe choice must be directed towards the result you desire, whether sound, looks or performance- remember our bikes spend most of their lives below 3000 rpms.

my own take is leave near stock...OR buy an S&S complete motor- that'll drop right in and everything is matched- they will actually help you choose the correct motor for your bike...bore/stroke/cam and induction.

if you tune or build a motor for more grunt...you can then think about an overdrive 6 speed tranny gear set ( $1200 ish) or even a rear pulley swap to get a slight overdrive stock is 70 teeth...a 65T will run maybe $100 and will probably work with the same belt. a 61T requires a belt swap which gets pricey.

one thing with an evo- the motor and tranny are connected only by the primary- a really built motor can break the primary cases- there is a "race brace" or "torque arm" which connects the tranny and motor on the right side which prevents that.( and I have one for sale)

mike

* at the same time MM/ weber was making some great EFI for other makes, so it must have been the specs or price H-D gave them.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting away from the racked neck deal and just leaving the bike more stock and just updating it as opposed to customizing it. I'd rather a nice bike that runs great then a custom bike that don't run. LoL.
