I have a '06 WG that the front brake is pretty solid. when i bought my '07 UC I noticed that the front brake felt a bit mushy. Bled the brake, but no change. went to the dealer and tried the brakes on a bunch of new UC on the showroom. they are like mine, a bit mushy. the dynas and a new SE UC were solid on the feel.
one of the mechanics told me to use a putty knife and push the pads back a tad, and bleed again. no change.
Is this something common with the dual disc UCs? Will changing to braided lines versus the rubber lines help.
Brake works well, but a definate difference between my Dyna and the UC.
I have a 2006 Street Glide with the dual disc brakes. They are also mushy. I have to pull all the way to the throttle to make her stop. Im working on bleeding the brakes better. Pads are good and it stops when you pull to the throttle but its terrible on a hill.

Hmm I have not cleaned the pistons yet. But I will. I just flushed the brake system and bleed them using those Speed Bleeders. Went through 32oz of brake fluid. Its bungied and sitting over night now. The brake lever still almost touches the throttle.
No joy this morning either. Same thing, can pull the brake lever all the way to the throttle. They work I just have to pull them so far to get them to work. Pads look pretty good.
Doesn't sound right! Are the pucks free in the calipers? I have another brand bike where dust builds up and they eventually stick and cause a similar problem to yours.
i replaced the front line with a braided steel line, re-bled with no change.
again, every UC in the showroom is just like that - a bit mushy, compared to a single disc WG or a SE UC. Must be something with the calipers vs a single caliper or the SE Bremo calipers.
Brought the bike to Harley yesterday and picked her back up today. They bleed the front brake system via vaccum pressure. Its not like the ol Softail but MUCH better. Have plenty of room now between the grip and the lever. I wish I could have found that mighty vac deal so I could have done it myself. Free of charge from Harley though. Love those guys.
