Default Had never seen one

Out by our farm there is a older Harley touring sitting at the end of a drive for sale. Really clean and shiny, lots of chrome, another bike I don't need but I stopped to see.

First off it is a older ride, carb, decal HD tag on tank but struck me odd when I walked up on it. Looks like a Road King kinda-sorta, has a nacelle headlamp with a slip fit w/s, hard bags, standard touring look, but that's when it got odd. The speedo and tach are in a nacelle attached to the triple tree, roughly squared and black plastic. Bike only has 52000 miles showing, definitely EVO engine so I wrote down the s/n and looked it up.

1993 FLHS, 82CI EVO, not a King but a Electra Glide Sport.

Had never remembered seeing one, just struck me as odd as I used to frequent the dealers during the late 80's/early 90's and do not remember seeing one then either. Were they fairly common?

I had a couple of those. An 88 FLHT-P and a 90 FLHS. Very similar to my 2013 RK except for the gauges. I did 6,400 miles in 13 days on the FLHS. Maryland to the Golden Gate Bridge and back again.

They were good bikes. I had the FLHS up to over 12,000 feet and the carb ran great. Never had any trouble with the carb on either bike. Pretty trouble free all around except there was a defective circuit breaker that could kill the motor on the 90 FLHS and a recall for the shift forks on the 88 FLHT-P. I know you can run them 80mph all day long without worry. I had a primary seal leak on the 6,400 mile trip an the dealer in Grand Junction, CO fixed it under warranty while I waited but that was the only major problem.

...the "road king" was based on the modifications riders were doing to the FLHS.

H-D kinda following the market ( hello street glide...a $3000 upcharge for what riders were doing to the FLHT)

Fairly common bikes, considering that 80/early 90's total production numbers were 30000ish units a year probably only 1500 FLHS/ FLHP models each year

I installed the Road King nacelle kit ( aftermarket,) on my 90 FLHS to get the same look. I removed the speedo tach housing though and installed mini gauges on the handlebars to keep it clean looking.

It was a good bike. ( Traded it for an '87 Corvette around '94, come to think of it.)

Crappy cell phone pics which need rotating...but here a snap of the FLHS from the 1993 HD book.

His "Ask" price is $6500, bike looks to have been exceptionally well kept, a very clean and bright Black.

Yup. FLHS. Have a police version in the garage. They were pretty common. That gauge package is the same on that is on the 90's baggers just tilted up in the fairing. You'll know if it was a motor patrol bike if the bottom of the gauges have "Certified Police Special" printed under the speedo and the quick release ***** on the saddlebags.. It's also got that beaut anti dive air system.... 5500-6000 would be a very good deal if it's in exceptional condition. Feel free to buy it!

I had a 92 FLHS. I miss that old scoot. Really nice, very reliable.
