Road glide AUX input volume very low
the line level output from some mp3 players xm receivers and other devices may be lower than the level of the fm/am/cd playback through the stereo system.
an inline amplifier on the input may help to balance those levels for best signal to noise ratio, fidelity, and so you don't blow your head off when switching inputs.
an apple device may give different levels whether using the headphone jack or the 30 pin connector ( or the new connectors on the iphone 5's)
also check whether an EQ setting is used- some EQ settings drastically affect the perceived volume
also check the cable used to connect- i use a macally with 4 conductor plug at the phone end- 3 at the radio end.
an inline button allows me to play/pause, ff, rew.
this all assumes that the mp3's are "recorded" at a level which is sufficient- it is possible to mess up settings when converting cds to mp3's.
